Laura’s Review of Reaper’s Legacy (Reapers MC, #2) by Joanna Wylde

If you loved Own the Wind (Chaos, #1) by Kristen Ashley, Unbeautifully (Undeniable, #2) by Madeleine Sheehan, Rock Chick Revenge (Rock Chick, #5) by Kristen Ashley and Hell’s Knights (The MC Sinners, #1) by Bella Jewel then you will LOVE this book!!!!

Basic Summary

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart –and her virginity—to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing.  Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious—her son Noah.  Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model.  When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands—with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club—to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn't Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn't giving her a choice.  He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not.  But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him.  Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way…

What I Love About This Book

Give me more Ruger!!!! He is freaking amazing words cannot explain how awesome he is, because he is awesome on so many different levels.  I love that Ruger really stepped up to be Noah’s father even if he couldn’t be there physically Noah always knew Ruger was the man in his life he could count on.  I love that Ruger isn’t just a biker like Horse from Reaper’s Property he’s very smart and resourceful and has a lot going for him.  Ruger is the real deal, and he I love that he doesn’t bullshit with people he’s honest even if it’s brutal and never goes out of his way to purposefully hurt someone.  I love the MC world, and even if it’s not what civilians might consider to be okay or even legal, they have their own ways of living and delivering their own brands of justice.   Ruger is hot hot hot, and I just want more of him please!!!

I really like Sophie as a person because at the end of the day her purpose in life is make sure Noah is safe and healthy.  Even though she was a teenage mom with a dead beat boyfriend she made her situation work and even though she’s made some bad decisions along the way her number one priority is always her son.  I think Joanna Wylde encompasses the hard ship of Sophie being a teenage mother and what her life was like while her friends were going out partying she was home taking care of her kid.  It was a nice balance between seeing what Sophie has been through and not having half the book be all about Sophie’s past and her situation.  To me I love it when the character development doesn't make the book run slow, but also gives you enough to details to really grasp someone’s personality and actions.

I really love this series because it really lays out what MC life is like and how it differs from the rest of the society.  Joanna Wylde explains it in such a way that even if it’s not something you agree with you still understand where these bikers are coming from.  It’s very easy to see the family that has formed within this MC, and that they always have each other backs.  You see through Sophie’s experiences with her normal every day outside life and how that compares to her new friends and MC life style and it’s easy to see the pros and cons with both.  I feel like even if you hate MCs Joanna Wylde has developed this lifestyle that you can wrap your head around where they are coming from and why.  The Reapers are pretty freaking awesome so much so I wish they actually existed, I've never wanted to go to Idaho before but now I’m ready to move there!

Not So Much

Warning some spoilers ahead!!!!!  I really loved this book so I don’t really have too many complaints.  I think I would've liked to have seen more detail as far as Ruger’s point of view.   There’s a scene where Ruger talks about going to talk to Zach, but they never show it and I would've to have seen that exchange.  I think Sophie’s past and character development was pretty detailed but I didn’t feel like Ruger’s was as much.  I still don’t know why he’s named Ruger I can’t remember them mentioning it in the book at all but I could be wrong.  I really like Ruger but I would've liked to read more about his family I know his mother died but I that’s really about it.  Very little is mentioned of his father or Zach’s father at all. I probably would've added just a couple more pages involving more of Ruger’s character development.

I really liked Sophie a lot but I couldn't really just out and out love her in this book because she was so mean to Ruger at certain points.  I get that’s her personality but the way she felt about the MC and its members just really pissed me off at certain points.  Which I guess that’s the feelings she’s supposed to make the reader feel and Sophie definitely made me angry at times.  So this really isn't a con, but it prevented me for just totally falling in love with Sophie the way I would've liked to.

Overall

I really liked this story a lot, and I just totally love this series.  I cannot wait to get my hands on Devil’s Game (Reapers MC, #3); I need to know what happened with Em and Hunter so badly!!!  Enough about book three though, this book was awesome.  The pace of the book was great, although I would've liked a couple more sex scenes between Ruger and Sophie.  The ones that were in the book though were nothing less that steaming.  The sexual tension between these two in the beginning just pours of the pages and you can feel it yourself it’s so palpable.  There was definitely a bunch of biting your nails moments and this story totally kept you wanting more.  I was probably up till 2 in the morning last night reading because I just could not put it down.   The details in the book was great, I didn't feel like they weighted the book down or skimmed over at any point.  The character’s actions made sense to me and I felt like Ruger and Sophie were actual human beings not these robotic fictional characters with no consistency.  I absolutely love Ruger and the rest of the MC and I can’t wait to read more about these characters.  I loved that we get to see more of Horse and Marie as well in this book, there were a couple cute scenes involving them especially at the end of the story.  The girls in this series are pretty awesome and they provide a great support system for Sophie and provide some great laugh out loud moments while reading this book.  I love this series and I want more Joanna Wylde in my life!
