Lauren's Review of Five Weeks in December (Twisted & Tied #1) by Blue Kincaid

Summary: Two years ago tragedy took Harry Everett's confidence as a man and as a Dom. And while he's managed to continue to live his life, what he hasn't been able to do is venture back into the lifestyle that used to be as much a part of him as breathing. So when a friend suggests perhaps a professional submissive could help him, Harry's reluctantly willing to try. He doesn't hold out much hope, though. Until she shows up on his doorstep and turns everything upside down.
She’s got five weeks to help him heal.

"My name is December and for five weeks, I belong to you."

What I Loved About This Book: For the length of this book, I thought the Kincaid did a wonderful job of keeping the story flowing and interesting. The BDSM scenes are hot and different but not very intense for BDSM. Harry was intriguing to me because he is so alpha male and dominant when things are getting hot and heavy. He loves objectification and having his woman be on display. He demands that he owns her and that she keeps her eyes open and looks at him. One of my favorite scenes is when he has her pick own punishment and reward from his bag of tricks. However, there is such a sense of comfort with him because he is not afraid to tell you how he really feels. "I know. But I was wrong. I don't need the life I lost, December. I've been trying to get back to where I was before everything changed...and I never realized that it's not possible...I'm different. In some ways for the better, in some ways not, but different. I don't fit that box anymore." There is a soft side to Harry and his words were thoughtful and sincere.

Cons: I felt a complete disconnect to the characters. There was a "realness" to the characters which I liked bu t I could not get into them. Everything seemed too rushed for me (I know... they only had five weeks). I had a hard time believing that after both December and Harry suffered from toxic relationships that they both can jump into such strong feeling so fast. I was under the impression that December had trust issues but within the first couple of days knowing Harry, she admits to trusting him already.
