Laura’s Review Best Kind of Broken (Finding Fate, #1) by Chelsea Fine

If you read and loved Killing Sarai (In the Company of Killers, #1) by J.A. Redmerski, The Next Always (Inn Boonsboro, #1) by Nora Roberts,  and The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2) by Jill Shalvis  then you will LOVE this book!!!

Book Summary
Pixie and Levi haven't spoken in nearly a year when they find themselves working—and living—at the same inn in the middle of nowhere.  Once upon a time, they were childhood friends.  But that was before everything went to tell.  And now things are...awkward.

All they want to do is avoid each other, and their past, for as long as possible.  But now that they’re forced to share a bathroom, and therefore a shower, keeping their distance from one another becomes less difficult than keeping their hands off each other.  Welcome to the hallway of awkward and sexual frustration, folks.  Get comfy.  It's going to be a long summer.

First Impressions
I really like this book so far, I loved the constant torment Levi and Pixie put each other through every day.  For some reason I instantly loved Willow Inn and reading this book in the middle of a yet another snow storm in New Jersey I'm very jealous of the constant warm weather in Arizona.  Right away I liked Levi; he seems pretty easy going and a total hottie who has a lot of baggage much like his counterpart Pixie (Sarah).  Pixie for me is very interesting but not instantly likeable, it's pretty obvious how miserable she is about everything, and even though I don't know the reasons for her being this way yet I know she has pretty good reasons to be this negative.   I want to know sooooo badly what happened between Levi and Pixie and I will probably power read this book just to find out!  Which I love, I want a book that's going keep me guessing what their secrets could possibly be until the very end!  The tension between the two of them pours off the pages so much so I'm anxious while reading!

What I Loved

I love the smart ass remarks and inner monologues that Pixie and Levi have; they cracked me up a lot.  I think I like Pixie a little bit more than Levi in this instance because the thoughts floating around in her head are totally things I have felt and thought of a million times.  Those weird awkward moments between the two of them were also very funny at times and totally made me feel that awkwardness and tension as I was reading.  There is a point where all these random thoughts are flying through Pixie's head and I was just laughing the entire time!  Very enjoyable!

The sexual tension between these two was just tangible I could feel it between those two right off the bad.  In the beginning of the book where Pixie is trying to think of chopping peppers and not Levi's body was great.  You immediately get a sense of what is between them, what used to be between them, and what they both wish was between them now.  Even if you don't know all their deep dark secrets you still know they desperately wish things could be different between the two.  Right away I just wanted them to bang and get it over with and I enjoy feeling that anxiousness while reading a book because to me that means I'm totally into the story and tapping right into that strain.

Not So Much
The descriptions of things around the characters weren't that detailed and when they were talked about kind of felt unnatural to the story.  The description of the Inn didn't really feel organic to me and totally not detailed.  I wanted to know the lay of the place, when you first walk in what do you see?  Is the kitchen to the left or the right?  Where is Ellen’s office located on the first floor?  What colors are painted on the walls?  What does the renovated East Wing look like?  I just needed more details like that and I just didn't get what I needed.

Also being from New Jersey I'm not too happy with the stereotype of Angelo that because he's from New Jersey, it Italian and has tons of tattoos that automatically means he's in the mob.  But I get it, it's kind of funny in a way and when I meet people all over the country I hear all about the ridiculous generalizations made about people from Jersey.  Whenever Angelo is on the scene I'm annoyed and laughing all at the same time.

Overall

I'm usually not a huge fan of new adult romances because for me they tend to be all hearts and roses right off the bat and that just gets on my nerves.  I can only handle so much sweet before I want to gag and yell “Come on already!”  But I really enjoyed this book and it was definitely not all “I love you", “No I love you more" it was real and gritty and sometimes dark.  Give me messed up jaded characters any day of the week!

The pace of the book was a little slow for me I felt like after a while the back and forth between Levi and Pixie got to be a kind of boring.  The character development though was great and so were the details revolving around their personalities.  I felt like by the end of the book I felt like I really knew these people.  There some points where I was hysterically crying while reading and other times when actually laughed out loud.  Great book and I really liked this author definitely making me want to me read more from Chelsea Fine.  I kind of wish I got to see more of the“new” Pixie and Levi at the end of the book but I think even if I got that I would want more because I just love them so much.  I had a feeling the next book would involve Kayla and Daren and I'm glad I was right can't wait to read this one!
