Kari’s Review of Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain Series #2) by Kristen Ashley!!

If you liked the Corps Security Series by Harper Sloan or the With Me in Seattle Series by Kristen Proby, then you will love this series!!!

Summary: Lauren “Laurie” Graham always thought that something special was in the cards for her.  After divorcing her cheating husband, leaving her upscale lifestyle, she headed out onto the road to try to find a place to call home.  Lauren finds herself in a small town in Colorado called Carnal, working at a bar called Bubba’s as a waitress.  Tatum “Tate” Jackson is half owner of Bubba’s, an ex-cop, and current bounty hunter.  When he walks into the bar and sees that Lauren Graham seems high class and high maintenance, he wants nothing to do with her and makes it known by insulting her.  Lauren makes it known that the feeling is completely mutual, but before long Tate’s feelings change.  Things in Carnal start to change, when a serial killer is amongst them.  Tate must go out on the hunt for the killer but stakes his claim in biker that Lauren is his.  Lauren gets cozy with a man that Tate shares a history with, not understanding Tate’s biker talk.  Tate comes back and reclaims Laurie, but his past mingles with his future as secrets are revealed.    Laurie finally found her something special in that little town of Carnal.
What I love about this book:  I do love KA so much!!! First, I loved the plot line and the backstory that Tate had.  There were many things Tate kept secret until crucial parts of the story.  He was mysterious in a way that didn’t make me hate him.  Second, again this series has longer books and its due to the descriptions of the scenery, characters, and the dialogue.  Last, I love that Laurie didn’t take any shit from Tate.  She held her own and would argue with Tate when needed.
What I didn’t like:  This is a first.  The very beginning of the book, an insult is thrown at Laurie about her weight.  Though Laurie used it as motivation to change herself, Tate was way out of line.  In today’s world, there are enough body images that girls and women go through so I just felt that the insult could have been different and not related to image.  Also, sometimes the biker dialogue is a bit hard to follow.  You get the idea of what is trying to be said but it can get annoying.
Favorite quotes:“Are you the good guy, the sweet guy who takes care of me or are you this guy who’s kind of a jerk?”His answer was instantaneous. “I’m both those guys, babe.”
“Tatum Jackson, you’re lucky you’re a smokin’ hot, badass, biker, bounty hunter who looks good in jeans… and I love you or you would be seriously not worth it.”

“You said you were waitin’ for something special and he took away your chance to figure out that you were carryin’ it with you all this time. You are special, Laurie.”

"I get drunk on one and a half martinis and I mean drunk ."
He smiled at me. "Then we're hittin' the home store sale."
"We are."
"Martini glasses. Fuckin' you normal is hot. Make up sex us un-fuckin'-believable. Drunk sex might just kill me."
"Tate -
""Though, won't mind dyin' that way."
"You didn't claim a man like Tate. A man like Tate did the claiming."
