What I Loved
This entire book was a practice in patience for me as a reader because immediately I was once again sucked back into a dark mysterious world or past abuse, secrets and trauma.  Dollars picks up right where Pennies left off, Elder has rescued Pimlico after murdering Alrek.  He brings her to his yacht to heal her physically and to start to begin to heal her mentally.

I say that Dollars tested my patience’s because it felt like any progress Elder made with Pimlico there would be several steps back almost every time.  Pimlico is such a strong stubborn character and so many times that got in her way of her own recovery.  There were several times when I wanted to just shake and yell at this girl because all Elder was doing was trying to help her but at the same time she’s been through so much so you can’t blame her.  I love the duality of her character; being so strong but so timid at the same time.  It adds so many layers to not only her but to the story and sucks you in to the plot emotionally.  As the reader, I was so frustrated by her but I was rooting for her to move forward at the same time.

On top of this being a story of two people finding a way through the darkness of Pimlico’s past life there are all these lies and secrets flying around Elder and that made him so appealing to me.  I want to know more about him, I want to uncover everything about him and I can’t wait until that happens.  Not only did Pimlico suck me into this book but Elder certainly did as well and I love that the book switches from both their points of view.  When Elder was suffering from not being able to breakthrough to Pimlico or just wanted to hold her I could feel that frustration too and my heart broke for him.
Not So Much
I have no real complaints about this book I’m a big Pepper Winters addict so this will be a very short section.  I do wish the plot moved a long a little quicker, I felt like every time the relationship between Elder and Pimlico was going somewhere there would be another wrench thrown and it became almost too frustrating.  I do hope the next book shows more progress between the two of them or at least more action pushing the plot towards a purpose.
To Sum It All Up!
Overall I’m even more entranced by this series then I was when I finished Pennies.  Dollars was addicting from beginning to end and I was heartbroken when I came to the end.  There are so many layers to each of these characters and even though we are two books into this series I feel like we’ve barely scratched the surface of getting to know both Pimlico and Elder.  Each chapter left me wanting more and the ending totally had my heart shattered with tears in my eyes; just completely gut wrenching.

Pimlico is just beginning to recover physically throughout most of this story, but mentally she’s just starting to address the many issues she will probably have for the rest of her life because of Alrek.  There is some movement forward when it comes to her recovery but be prepared for not getting many questions answered when it comes to her past or Elder’s for that matter.  I can’t wait to get these questions I have swirling in my head answered and as I read more of this story I had more questions I wanted answered.  I love this series so much, and I can truly say that any theories I might have as to how this series will go will probably be obliviated.  I love books that can keep me on my toes and this one did from the very start.

Meet the Author
Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex... her books have sex.

She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.
