Laura’s Review of the Honeymoon Prize (The Honeymoon Series, #3) by Melissa McClone

Synopsis
He needs a wife…

Single bodyguard Nick Calhoun has been given an ultimatum by his boss—find a wife or lose his cushy, high-paying job. Clients’ wives are hitting on him and putting Nick, and his boss, in hot water. But monogamy? He’s never been a white picket fence kind of guy, and he’s not about to embrace the happily married lifestyle now. He needs a wife who doesn’t care about his steamy, extra-curricular love life…and he knows just the woman to fit the bill.

She needs a home…

Adalaide Sinclair spent years caring for her ill grandmother. Upon Grammy’s death, she’s stunned to find herself evicted from the only home she’s ever known and labeled a thief by her inheritance-hungry family. Addie needs to find a place to live and a job—fast.
So when her childhood friend, Nick, proposes a no-sex marriage of convenience, she puts her dreams of true love and happily-ever-after on hold. Finding Prince Charming can wait a little longer, right?

But will their friendship survive the honeymoon?

When Nick and Addie unexpectedly win a dream honeymoon, they decide to go their separate ways during the ten-day vacation. Too bad a camera crew is waiting for them at the tropical paradise. Acting like a head-over-heels bride and groom for reality TV wreaks havoc on their no-sex agreement…and blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Will Nick and Addie remain married in name only, or will a romantic honeymoon for show turn them into true newlyweds?

What I Loved
I was looking for something light hearted and fun to read and I just kind of stumbled across this book and decided to give it a shot.  I might’ve gone into this with some hesitation but I actually had a lot of fun reading it and would probably read something else Melissa McClone because I enjoyed this so much.

We meet Nick and Addie the day of their wedding; calling it small would be overstatement but it was cute none the less.  Addie is trying to pick up the piece of her life after a losing everything.  While Nick, her childhood friend is desperate to find a convenient wife to save his job, so it was the perfect solution to get hitched.  The only kicker being that their all-expenses paid honeymoon turns out to be a reality show full or drama and entertainment.

I think what I loved about this book so much was that both characters were just genuinely good people, who have this physical attraction that neither has had the guts to put into action.  The friendship and respect they have for each other was obvious but so was the sexual chemistry boiling between each other as well.

Not So Much
I wish that there was more of a foundation laid out for each of the characters.  I think the focus was their relationship which was fine but I would’ve liked more description of their pasts as individuals.  We got to see how they first met and how their relationship developed, but their past problems separately were only lightly touched upon.

Also it was so great watching them struggle with their new feelings for each other, but I felt like once it was finally acknowledged the book just ended.  An epilogue or more push into the future a little would’ve been great!

To Sum It All Up!

This was such a great cute story, a quick read that sucks the reader in easily and keeps you engrossed until the very end.  Nick and Addie were easy to love from the start and my feelings for them only grew as the story went on.  Also, Addie has been through so much in life and it was great to see her let go and relax.  The chemistry between these two is unmistakable and it all leads up to a very romantic ending that left a huge smile on my face.
