Laura’s Review of Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4) by Kristen Ashley

If you read One Night with a Hero (The Hero, #2) by Laura Kaye, Perfect Fit (Serendipity’s Finest, #1) by Carly Phillips, and Getting Rid of Bradley by Jennifer Crusie then you will LOVE this book!!!

What This Book Is About

When the local police department’s secrets are revealed and the wife he’s forced to marry is murdered, Chace finds himself the town of Carnal’s hero.  Knowing how deep in the mud he was forced to sink, Chace feelds he’ll never get clean.  The quiet, content future envisioned of then love a good woman with whom he could build a family was now beyond his reach.  The only thing he can do is find his wife’s murderer.

But he isn’t the only one looking.

While searching for new leads, he runs into Faye Goodnight, the town’s quiet shy, pretty librarian.  Chace has long since had his eye on what could possibly be the town’s last remaining virgin but he has also long since given up home he could make her his.  Faye is pure and clean and Chace refuses to dirty her with his sordid past.

Pure and clean Faye may be, but when the shy librarian is forced to go head to head with the man who she’s had a crush on since he hit her hometown, Chace finds Fay is full of surprises.  And he doesn’t know what to do with her.

What I Loved

I don’t even know where to start because there are so many things I love about this book!  Faye Goodnight is awesome and while reading this book I actually started to say frak instead of cursing.  Thank you very much Faye for influencing my everyday language! I like so much because she’s this shy introvert who ran the library and always had her nose in the books but when she got mad or upset her temper would flair and that’s when you see her real passion.  As an avid reader of romances with hot sex scene (evidence of me reading this book) you instantly get hooked on Faye Goodnight and I don’t want to let her go.

The same can be said for Chace as well, you meet him in Lady Luck and at first you can kind hate him but after a while you realize he was just as caught up in drama as Ty Walker was and by the end of the book you can’t wait to move onto his story.  He’s an awesome cop, and better yet he’s an awesome alpha male!  He’s hot, he’s cute, and he’s got handcuffs; what’s not to love?  He truly is a white knight coming to rescue Faye and be her hero for the rest of his life.

I really liked that were essentially two story lines in the book one involving Chace’s past, and another going on with a little boy Faye discovers while working at the library.  One story line had me in tears at times, and the other had me on the edge of my seat ready to scream!  Faye definitely fits into the spitfire leading females in this series and Chace fits right into that alpha male role as well.  I really loved their love story and I appreciate there wasn’t tons of ups and downs going between the two of them, because it gave me more time to see them settled in a relationship and watch their love blossom.

Not So Much
I guess my only complaint is that since this is the fourth book in this series there were no real huge surprises because this plot line followed the same exact plot line of the past three books.  Guy meets the love of his life, the start dating quickly, they get into a couple fights because of their personalities, girl’s life is in danger, girl is rescued by her man and they live happily ever after.  This book definitely kept me on my toes because Faye faces one of my worst nightmares but I need twists and turns that I can’t predict and I could predict this book way too much.

Overall

Overall this book was a great story, there were a couple times I had tears in my eyes and more than a couples times I was smiling like a little school girl.  The characters in this book are awesome I totally fell for Faye’s entire family and of course Faye herself.  Jeremiah and Rebecca just totally stole my heart and there was no words for how touching their scenes were just so amazing.  I loved that we got to see a Rock Chick in this story as well!!! I was freaking out when Aly Nightingale walked onto the scene with Darius, Brody, and Ren; so cool we got a little bit of Rock Chick Revolution in this story.  I love that Kristen Ashley incorporates her other series these stories and I will never get enough of Lee Nightingale and his bunch.  The chemistry between Faye and Chace was phenomenal and because of that there are some pretty awesome sex scenes throughout this book.  I love the real characters in this book they are so down to earth and gritty at times you can’t help to but to latch onto them and truly miss them once the story ends.  I love Carnal Colorado but I’m happy the next book in this series brings us back to Gnaw Bone because I missed that town.
