If you loved Own the

you will LOVE this book!!!!
Basic Summary
Madison Cole’s family is the Storm Motorcycle Club. Her father is the President and her brother is the VP. She grew up surrounded by bikers, crime and violence. Two years ago she walked away from her family and the world they live in. Her soul was shattered, her heart was broken, and she had an addiction she couldn't shake. She picked up the pieces and put herself back together. Now her family wants her back. The club is being threatened and they send a club member to return her home to safety; the one person that could destroy everything she has worked so hard to build.
Jason Reilly
has sacrificed a lot for the motorcycle club he calls family. Two years ago he made the biggest sacrifice
of all; he gave up the woman he loved for them.
Now he is being sent to bring her back and he is conflicted. He thought he was over her but discovers
their connection is as strong as ever.
Their love was all-consuming, passionate and fiery. It was also their undoing and he doesn't know
if either of them is strong enough to battle the demos that ripped them apart
to find love again.
Madison and
Jason are brought back together by a force out of their control; one that
pushes them to a breaking point. Can
they overcome their past and discover a love worth fighting for or will the
harsh reality of their world finally and completely break them both?
What I Love About This Book
I really enjoyed
this story line a lot. I love motorcycle
club books because they are usually very gritty and raw and have a way of showing
the worst in people but also the very best.
Motorcycle clubs have a way of redefining family, and the Storm MC definitely
falls into this category. I really like
Madison, I like that she isn't this innocent wide eyed girl discovering the
world of bikers for the first time.
Storm MC was her life, and still is her life, and the fact that she’s an
alcoholic that random sex with people makes her more real and relatable. Not what I’m an alcoholic and have sex with
random people…anymore (JK)!! The sex
scenes between these two are very steamy and sexy and I very much enjoyed
reading them.
The actual plot line of the book
is great, and there are a couple moments were I was on the edge of my seat
dying to know what exactly was going to happen next. Also definitely towards the end of the book
you are thrown for a BIG loop, and I love books that have the ability to keep
me guessing. I love stories that can
shock me still, and I definitely got that in this book.
Cons
I felt like the
character development in this book was a little lacking. The development of Madison herself was fine,
but the supporting characters were deficient.
I had no idea who her friend Blake was, he just kind of popped up on the
scene with no explanation as to who he was to Madison, what his story was, why
he worked at a restaurant. Was he the
owner? Was he the chef? I had no clue about him at all and the same
can be said for Serena. There is no real
description of her personality or really what her back story is. It’s so important to make the supporting
characters in a book to be just as real as the main characters because it adds
more depth to the plot and the main character’s life as well. I felt like I got to know J and Madison but
maybe having flashbacks of their past or just adding more to their back stories
would have helped to adding to the overall plot.
Also I felt
like the sentences were a little choppy and fragmented at times, and it kind of
got on my nerves at a certain point and it prevented me from really getting
into the book emotionally the way I like to. I've read a lot worse than this book, so it’s not horrible just a little
annoying. I felt like instead of
Madison’s story developing naturally the way you would find out about a real
person, instead it was kind of laid out there for you immediately. To me it kind of came off like she was being
interviewed rather than letting her personality and past experiences come out
naturally. I get you are trying to lay
the plot out and give the back story so as a reader we’re not completely
confused as to what is going on, but the way it was done was too robotic and not
human enough.
Overall
The flow of
the book wasn't great, some of the chapters didn't really pour from one to the other smoothly. The supporting character
development was just really bad, and at times I felt like the conversations with
supporting characters made no sense at all.
I would've liked to have seen more details about the apartment Madison
lived in, the club house, J’s house, the environment around them generally was
lacking in details. I liked to feel like
these characters are real people but it’s hard to do that if I can’t really
grasp their surroundings because where they live and spend most of their lives
adds to who they are. Also there weren't tons of details of how Madison herself looked, all I really knew was she had
long legs and long brown hair, and it kind of stopped there.
This is the first
book in this series and I’m definitely compelled to read the next one, I just
hope there will be more details in the second book and really make these
characters more tangible to the reader.
Like I've said before I love motorcycle club books, and this series is
no different I’m interested to see what Scott’s story will consist of.
