Laura’s Review of Bleeding Love (Hope Town, #2) by Harper Sloan

Synopsis
I've loved once. I gave everything that I had to that love. Blindly believing that nothing could ever take that feeling away from me. Away from us. And when my little world of happiness was ripped from my fingers, I felt a loss that still haunts me to this day.

Now I use that lingering grief as a shield to keep my heart from loving again. It's that fear that keeps me from letting anyone, except my daughter, get close enough to make it hurt. To make my heart bleed when I inevitably lose again.

Until the day I met Liam Beckett and everything I thought I had protected myself from was shoved back in my face.

He's on a mission to prove to me that a love worth having is a love worth fighting for.

What I Loved
I think what I loved most about this book is that Megan finally got her happy ending.  We meet Megan in Unexpected Fate learning that her husband was killed overseas leaving her heartbroken and a single mother.  From the very beginning I fell for both Megan and Liam and my love for them grew as the story went on.  Megan’s daughter Molly added so much to the overall plot she’s so freaking cute and I loved how she had Axel and the rest of the dudes wrapped around her little fingers.

This story starts with a very sexy love scene that immediately draws you in, and makes you want more.  I’m a sucker for hot strong alpha men and Liam was totally that and so much more.  I loved how he fought to break down Megan’s walls she built up around her heart knowing how sweet the reward was going to be when he finally did.  Also, I loved how he just fit so easily into Molly and Megan’s lives and protected and supported them every step of the way.  Liam is one hot cop who knows what he wants and goes after it!

Not So Much
I’m really glad this story broke the mold from the more common plot line that Harper Sloan follows but at the same time the story was kind of boring at times.  I’m so happy it wasn’t the typical, woman in trouble man saving her story but there should’ve been a little bit more action.  There was one suspenseful moment in the beginning but not much else.  I know that sounds hypocritical after saying I’m glad it broke the mold but there were other ways this plot could have gone rather than just the same old story.  Maybe just a little bit more action or suspense would’ve kept my interest more.

To Sum It All Up!
I loved how Liam’s story mirrored his father and mother’s because it brings you back to their love and how they met.  I always admired Beck’s determination when it came to Dee, which it made it all the more special to experience that again with Liam.  Megan was an easy character to love and my heart just went out to her and Molly for losing so much and then picking up the pieces.  Liam and Megan had amazing chemistry and sizzled off the pages the entire time.  It was so great to watch the love between them grow and see them begin a new life together and form a new family with Molly.  Liam stepped into that father role so seamlessly and it was heartwarming to watch. I do wish there was a little bit more action or suspense, something to keep my attention more.  But Liam is definitely sexy enough to keep me captivated with his hotness from beginning to end.  I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and see who falls in love next!
