Kari's 5 Star Review: Property Of by CP Smith

Summary

WARNING: Author believes in soul mates and insta-love, proceed with caution if you're not a romantic at heart.

“Life imitates art far more than art imitates Life.” ― Oscar Wilde

Author Nicola Royse dreamed of Scottish Highlanders as a teen then wrote about them as an adult. Always looking but never finding her own White Knight, she still held out hope that he would one day ride up on his trusty steed. He rode up all right, on a silver Harley with heat in his eyes and a detective's badge on his hip while she and her friends plotted her first contemporary romantic suspense. Of course, life couldn't' imitate art without a killer on the loose, one that had Nicola and her friends in his sights.

Detective Dallas Vaughn dedicated his life to catching killers. Then one day he bumped into the girl-next-door, and all that changed. Now he's her White Knight fighting against a Dark Prince—one who would love to see her dead.

What I loved:
Nicola- Writer. Daughter. Sister. Best Friend. And most importantly, finally her own character in a story. Nicola lives in her writing. She loves her brothers (they are triplets), her best friends since high school, and her career. When her friends convince her that she needs to actually live outside a book, she becomes the focus of a serial killer. Nicola’s character in Property Of, really gives us an inside look as to the life of a writer. She is determined to research the only way she knows how.

Dallas-Detective. Hot. Alpha. And most importantly, the hero that Nicola has waited her whole life for after writing him repeatedly in her books for years. Dallas Vaughn is everything you want in a hero and more. He is used to protecting and serving, but when he meets Nicola, that sentiment is intensified. Dallas knows what he wants and that is Nicola. Through all the craziness that swirls around Nicola and her friends, Dallas grows more protective. Its hot and completely panty melting.
What I didn’t love:
The thing about books that are 5 stars for me is that this particular section of the review means I really have to nitpick and find something wrong with a story that I adored. I can only say that I did not love that certain things took place, but they were critical to the storyline. I can’t say anymore then that because then I would be giving stuff away.

Overall:
Nicola and Dallas’ story was another great work of art by CP Smith. She has really learned how to infuse humor in a story. I have read every single book this author has put out and I can’t tell you enough how much growth shows in every book. CP, please continue to give us these incredibly real, humorous, and sexy characters. I look forward to what’s next.

**Personal Note** During my time reading this story, I found myself in an extremely emotional place due to current situations in my life. Reading some of the words in this book, brought me some peace. I really can’t say enough CP how much that helped me. It’s an amazing thing when you can read a story and relate it immediately to your real life. Thank you always.
