What
I Loved
What isn’t there to love when it comes to Jett and Brooke? I love the
intrigue, the mystery, the sex, the passion and of course the love! J.C. Reed
has a way of writing that keeps you guessing the entire time, and then to top
it off, leaves your heart in pieces all over the floor. I cannot wait to see
what happens next with Jett and Brooke.
I really like the character of Brooke, she’s a fiercely independent girl whose been dealt some pretty harsh blows in life but still has a somewhat positive view on life. Not when it comes to love, but otherwise can be a pretty positive human being. Given her past and her present I love how she’s trying to making in the harsh world of New York City and has found something she’s good at and likes to do. I love that although things might not turn out her way all the time she’s still a very brave person mentally and physically, especially during times when she just wants to crawl into a corner and never leave.
The foundation of both characters was written really well, and I love that Jett has all these massive secrets that have kind of get dropped like huge bombs throughout the book. I can’t wait to see what else he is hiding behind those beautiful green eyes of his. The chemistry between these two is nothing less than boiling and the sex scenes between them left me feeling very hot.

Not
So Much
This was certainly a very dramatic beginning to what I think will be a
very dramatic love story between Jett and Brooke. But there were times where I
felt there were some inconsistencies in the story. There was a lot of attention
paid to Lake Como, Italy and Jett’s house there but the same attention to
detail wasn’t really paid to New York City and Brooke's apartment. I didn’t
really feel like the author knew NYC very well because there wasn’t any kind of
detail about what makes New York City different from other places around the
world. It was so wonderful to grasp the beauty of Lake Como, I just wish I
could’ve said the same for NYC. The same can be said for Brooke's apartment, I
get it's small and all that but tell me what parts of Brooke are reflected in
her home and how she's turned a small place into a home.
Also I really dislike the character of Sylvie, often the best friends in books are not always my favorite people but they generally don’t bother me. Sylvie on the other hand really gets on my nerves and there just wasn’t anything endearing about her at all. It’s hard to relate to a girl who’s turned her back on high society but still has Daddy pay the bills. She just seems like a weak and very selfish person who makes bad decisions and deflects her emotions onto others so she doesn’t have to deal with her screwed up self

To
Sum It All Up!
I really loved the
beginning of this story, the plot build up was awesome and I’m a sucker for
emotional endings knowing that the story is just beginning. The foundations for both characters was laid
out really well, and I felt like I got to know where Brooke was coming from and who
she is really well. It made it so much easier to get engrossed in her story and journey with Jett Mayfield so far. I get that, that the same can’t
be said for Jett but obviously that’s on purpose and I love it! Give me drama, intrigue, and tears any day of
the week because I will soak up every second of it. This is the beginning to an amazing series
and I can’t wait to go along for the ride!
