Laura’s Review of Falling for the Enemy (Private Pleasures, #3) by Samanthe Beck

Synopsis
A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

Caught between a rock and a rock-hard body…

Salon owner Virginia Boca has declared herself celibate...at least until she wins the election for mayor of Bluelick, Kentucky. No hot men. No sex. And her plan to play the good girl might have worked—if the mysterious, hard-bodied stranger she’s seen around town hadn't pulled her from the street and saved her life. The least Ginny can do is offer her savior a free haircut. But when an innocent haircut turns into hours of wickedly hot sex, former Navy SEAL Shaun Buchanan knows his plan to keep a low profile is shot. Especially once Ginny finds out he’s the current mayor's son. With her reputation and the election on the line, Ginny seems determined to keep their nightly sexcapades a secret, but Shaun’s not willing to stay in the shadows forever…

What I Loved
First off, the chemistry between Ginny and Shaun immediately jumps off the pages the second Shaun walks into Ginny’s salon and it continues on through the entire story.  I love that this story immediately jumped into some sexy time between these two giving you plenty of fun and very hot sex scenes throughout the story.  There is probably not one thing I hate Shaun, and anytime he got naked I loved him even more.  I also really enjoyed Ginny from the previous book in this series, Light Her Fire, so it was so wonderful to see her get her own story.

She’s definitely a character that is easy to like and support because she’s not whiney or a pushover.  She’s a strong woman with a strong personality who doesn’t sit back and complain about things, she does something about it.  I love women who have strong personalities, there’s something very real about them to me and Ginny falls right into this category.

Not So Much

This book I felt like had more background detail than, Light Her Fire which was pretty great.  But I still felt like in some instances it was hard to get a handle on what some things looked like.  I get Ginny has her hair own hair salon, but is she the only person that works there?  It’s never really established what her salon looks like and who else works there?  I get that these are minute details, but it just confused me and felt odd that nobody else worked there and because of that took me out of the story a little.

Also I like books with drama, and this story just didn't have much.  For me I like some heart ache, some close calls with death maybe and this book didn’t have those things.  Don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed watching Shaun and Ginny fall in love, but maybe if there was more drama I would’ve loved the story more.

To Sum It All Up!
Overall, this is a great easy read filled with hot steamy sex and two wonderful characters.  From the very beginning Shaun somehow captures your heart, and all you really want from him is to find happiness.  Ginny was definitely a character I could relate to on many levels, and that made it very easy for me to love her and want her to find her soul mate.  The character development was right on point, the author did a great job of laying down a foundation of who these two people are and what makes them tick.  Even though this is a book in a series, I liked how Bluelick is explained to you as if you haven’t read the other books, so each time you get a real sense of this town and its citizens.  The sex scenes where boiling, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of them. Great story, easy fun read for anyone that is looking for a love story in a small town.
