Lauren's Review of The Dark Light of Day by T.M Frazier

Summary: Warning: This is not your typical romance. The story of Abby & Jake contains disturbing situations, graphic violence, sex, rape, strong language, drug use, and all types of abuse.  Abby has been through hell and has survived one of the most brutal childhoods imaginable…barely.  To the outside world she's just a loner with an attitude.  When her grandmother dies in a tragic explosion, Abby is left with questions-and nothing else. Homeless, sleeping in a junkyard, and on the run from a system that has failed her over and over again, she meets Jake, a tattooed blue-eyed biker with secrets that will rival her own. Two broken souls that can't be healed. They can't be saved.
If they can accept one another for who they really are, they might be able to learn that love isn’t always found in the light.

Rating: 5 stars!!!

What I Loved About This Book: Intense! Intense! Intense! There was so much craziness and drama that I could not put this book down. I LOVED IT! I never knew so much bad could happen to one person. I would not want to live one day of Abby's life.  My heart just broke for her.  Talk about a survivor...how much can one person take?   Despite everything that happens to Abby, I enjoyed watching her blossom into herself.  We see the road that Abby could have taken when we meet Jake's dad, Frank and how he turned hurt and pain into anger and mistakes.  Abby took that pain and turned into into a strength and I truly admired her ability to move past it and strive forward.

Two things that made me smile whiling reading this book. The cute game Jake and Abby play in order to reveal their deepest and darkest secrets to each other (Pass).  It brought some humor to some serious issues for both of them. And of course, I am a sucker for adorable nicknames but for some reason everytime Jake called Abby "Bee" my heart went to complete mush!!

Cons: I wanted more Jake.  Everything moves so fast in the beginning when Jake and Abby meet. I instantly felt a connection with their relationship but then we miss out on him for too long when he leaves for work and after his confrontation with Abby.  Also, there were a couple of scenes that were a bit much for me and I had to skim through it.  Obviously, it goes with the storyline and I appreciate the warning but some parts were too graphic for me but kudos for T.M. Frazier for the descriptive writing because it was so vivid in my head, I had to take a step back and take a breathier.

Next on my TBR List: Tragic (Rook & Ronin #1) by J.A Huss
