Basic Summary: Each
novel deals with a different Master at an exclusive BDSM club in Florida named
Shadowlands. The first book deals with
Master Z the owner and creator of the club, who is also a psychologist and can
kind of read minds. Although that sounds
a little weird, it kind of isn’t and is sometimes funny. Each Master comes with his own baggage, and
within each plot line they are introduced to women who become the love of their
lives and also happened to be in some sort of trouble at the same time. Coincidence….I think not!

What Is So Great About This
Series: What I love about this series that it not
only revolves around the world of BDSM is illustrates the very different types
of relationships that are involved in BDSM.
It’s very similar to any vanilla relationship, in that what works for
some people might not work for everyone.
Each book addresses a different Master and what kind of Dom/sub
relationship they are looking for in life.
Master Z in the first book with Jessica have more of a Dom/sub
relationship that isn’t a total power exchange, so at times they do not have to
slip into those roles. Whereas with Master Nolan who used to have a slave for a
number of years, but later on realized that was not what he was looking for in
life, and he finds his happiness with Beth who needs protection from her severely
abusive ex-husband. Master Raoul on the
other hand wants a more total power exchange (TPE) relationship and gets that when
he rescues Kimberly from human traffickers that are a focal storyline of three
of these books.
The Masters of Shadowlands do not
offer the only variety to these books; the females in each book vary greatly as
well but for a strong bond with each other and great network for support. Jessica from book one will be the bratty sub,
standing up for subs who she feels are being pushed too far. Kari in book two, Dark Citadel, isn’t just
a school teacher, she is Master Dan’s sub, the mother of his, and the love of
his life. Gabrielle in book 5, Make
Me Sir, is a brave victim’s counselor that volunteers for the FBI to
find who is kidnapping subs from BDSM clubs all over Florida. She is determined to find who is behind the
kidnappings and help rescue her friend Kimberly who in book 6, To
Command and Collar, falls in love with Master Raoul.

Each book explores not the only
different types of relationships that involve Dom/sub, but also the psychology
behind them. Why Jessica loves to submit
to Master Z and why that submission makes her feel loved and cherished as
opposed to being a vanilla relationship.
This book explores the safety and trust that goes into BDSM play, it
explicitly follows the motto; “Safe Sane Consensual” and that steps that should
be taken for this to happen. Cherise
Sinclair puts in the beginning of all her books how important it is for any sub
to find the right Dom, and that no Master can read your mind so be safe out
there finding what works for you.
Cons:
The only real con I have is that I kind of wish that the books went back
to the other characters more than they do.
It does kind of revisit the past relationships and all the characters
are in each book, but I wish it did it more because I love these people so
much!
Overall:
If you want to learn more about the world of BDSM, and hot drawn out sex scenes
sprinkled with a little bit of suspense then this is the series for you!!!!
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
