Laura’s Review of Fighting Fate (Fighting, #6) By J.B. Salsbury

Synopsis
Axelle’s broken.
I live to hold her together.

Killian McCreery only has two dreams . . .
Fight for the UFL.
And Axelle.

He’s watched her give her time and her body to men who don’t deserve to breathe her air. He’s waited, worked hard to become the kind of man she deserves, hoping one day, when the time is right, he’d get the opportunity to make her happy. After a painful anniversary, he finally gets his chance.

But life has a way of sucker-punching its victims—striking when they least expect it in the most devastating ways.

Killian loves me.
But I screwed up. Big time.

Axelle Daniels appears to be the typical college student—parties, hangovers, and men. No one knows that inside she’s a mess, and no amount of booze or meaningless relationships have managed to fill the cracks in her heart. But Killian knows. He’s been there since the night it all began and has never left her side.

When she wakes up one morning to find the consequences of her actions have caught up to her, even Killian’s white-knighthood
can’t save her now.

Fate is put to the test when, for the first time in their five-year friendship, they no longer have each other to lean on. When he becomes a UFL superstar, she hardly recognizes the man he used to be. And she no longer needs him to hold her together.

With the foundation of their friendship gone, they’ll discover that even a love that is meant to be needs to be fought for and destiny is a choice.
What I Loved

First of all, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book! I have been waiting for Killian and Axelle’s story for so long and it’s finally here and I freaking loved it!  I literally couldn’t put this book down. I read it till one in the morning knowing I would be a complete zombie at work but didn’t care.  I experienced happiness, sadness, joy, devastation and so many other emotions throughout the entire story because this book so freaking addictive!

I always knew Killian and Axelle were meant to be together but who knew their love story would be filled with so much turmoil and sadness.  The story begins with both characters in college, Axelle dating an asshole and Killian on the sidelines cleaning up her messes.  Killian has always been there for Axelle no matter what and is just waiting for the day she sees what been right in front of her the whole time.  What it all boils down to is miscommunication between these two because they both are in love with each other.

The tension between them just builds and builds until it finally bursts into one hot night of passion that I won’t forget for a very long time.  Killian has always loved Axelle and for him to finally get all he has ever wanted was so beautiful!  Then for it all to change so quickly and to be taken away was so heart breaking which drew me into this story even more.
Not So Much
I was reading a lot of the reviews and I’m not a fan of taking points away from books just because I disagree with the plot.  I’ll do it for lack of detail, grammar or inconsistencies but not because I disagree the way the author went with the storyline.  The only time I would if the plot was completely unrealistic with the rest of the story.  So this section won’t reflect that.  BUT I will say I wish that I got to see more Axelle and Killian as a couple rather than separate.  The other books in this series really established the other couples in their relationships and this book didn’t give me that as much.  But this is a 5-star review so I’m not taking points away because of that.
To Sum It All Up!

This entire book just took my breath away.  I absolutely loved watching Killian grow from the eager boy he was once was to the UFL star he became.  He grew into this hot sexy alpha male that I couldn’t get enough of, and even though he changed a little the same old Killian was still there somewhere. It was just as awesome to watch Axelle blossom into an amazing woman and although she made some bad decisions she made a life for herself and fought to stand on her own two feet.

I loved the fierce passion and loyalty Killian and Axelle had for each other, it poured off the pages and that’s probably what hooked me from the very beginning.  I read this book in two short days, and as much as I hated reading it so fast because I didn’t want it to end I needed to know what was going to happen next.  Such an amazing compelling story, and reminded me again why I love this series so much.
