Laura’s Review of Bounty (Colorado Mountain, #7) by Kristen Ashley

Synopsis
Justice Lonesome has enjoyed a life of bounty.

Even so, she’s inherited the curse of the Lonesome. A poet’s soul. Which means she’s still searching for something. Searching for peace. Searching for the less…that’s more.

And when the foundation of her life is pulled out from under her, grieving, she goes to the mountains to find her oasis. She hits Carnal, Colorado and decides to stay.

Deke Hightower lost everything at the age of two. He lost it again at fifteen. His life has not been about bounty. It’s been about learning to live with less, because there’s no way to get more.

Deke’s also watched all his friends go down to the women who gave them what they needed. He wants that for himself. But he knows that search isn’t going to be easy because he’s a rider. His home is the road. That’s the only place he can breathe. And the woman who takes her place at his side has to do it sitting on the back of his bike.

When Deke meets Justice, he knows she’s not that woman. She’s cute. She’s sweet. And she’s into him, but she’s got it all and Deke knows he won’t fit into that. So he holds her at arm’s length. Establishes boundaries. And Justice will take it because she wants Deke any way he’ll let her have him.

But when Justice finds herself a pawn in a dangerous game, Deke makes a decision.

When he does, he has no idea he’s just opened himself up to bounty.

What I Loved

Yay!! Another Kristen Ashley book!! I mean for real, who doesn’t love Kristen Ashley and her alpha male, oozing masculinity and hotness all over the place?  Bounty was no different in that category filled with lots of love, heartfelt moments and of course suspense! There were some moments I predicted like the sizzling attraction between Deke and Justice and then there some things that took me completely by surprise.

I was so happy to finally get to Deke’s story and I wasn’t disappointed in the least.  Deke is one hard shell to crack but once you do, damn is it good!  We meet Deke and Justice a little younger, but the attraction is instant between the two, at a biker bar in the middle of nowhere.  Eight years later the story begins with Justice wanting to settle down Carnal, Colorado and somehow running into Deke once again in bar.  Of course the chemistry was still there between the two and watching them fight it was just as fun as watching them fall in love each other.

Kristen Ashley has this beautiful way of creating very real down to earth characters find their happiness and place in the world.  It makes it such a wonderful reading experience reading about that kind of happiness and that’s probably what I loved most about Bounty.

Justice captured my heart in the prologue and didn’t let go until the very last word, she was pure beauty through and through and I absolutely loved her for it.  As much as I fell in love with Justice I fell in love with Deke just as much too. He totally became my knight in shining armor and definitely put happy tears in my eyes by the end of the story.

Not So Much
I really loved this story a lot, but I did feel like there were times that the mushiness was laid on a little too think for me.  There was just a lot of repetitiveness of how amazing Deke is to Justice and how much she loved him.  There was a certain point I was like, okay I get it already let’s move on with the plot.  Kristen Ashley books are always very wordy so I was prepared for this but for some reason this particular book seemed extra mushy to me.

To Sum It All Up!
Overall this was another amazing Kristen Ashley story filled with lots of love, emotions and suspense.  There was a TON of drama sprinkled with some pretty steamy sex scenes built on a solid foundation with awesome character development.

Not only do you get to learn all about Justice and her world, all the characters of Colorado Mountain series past make an appearance so we get to see how their lives have evolved and grown as well.  This story was so heartwarming in so many ways.  I had tears in my eyes at least three different times while reading, which just proves how sucked in emotionally.

There was nothing that I didn’t love about Deke and Justice apart and together, this was truly an amazing story and I’m so glad I got to experience it.  If you haven’t begun to this series, I suggest you run to the bookstore or type quickly on amazon and begin immediately!
