Review: Betrayal (Infidelity, #1) By Aleatha Romig

Synopsis
One week. No future. No past. No more.

Alexandria Collins has one week to live carefree—no ghosts of her past or pressures of her future haunting her. Reinventing herself as "Charli," she is knocked off her feet by a sexy, mysterious man who brings her pleasure like she never imagined.  With her heart at stake, she forgets that decisions made in the dark of night reappear in the bright light of day.

"Some of my tastes are unique. They aren’t for everyone. I understand that.”

Lennox "Nox" Demetri is wealthy, confident, and decisive—he knows what he wants. From the first time he sees Charli at an exclusive resort, he knows he wants her. Although he is usually the one to make the rules, together they agree on one:

One week. No more.

When betrayal comes from those closest to Alexandria, she must decide how far she is willing to go to survive. Choices are not always easy, especially when they involve the heart, body, and soul. After all, Infidelity is a business, and some rules are meant to be broken.

"Is it really cheating if you're doing it to yourself?"

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a sexy, new dominant hero who knows what he wants, and a strong-willed heroine who has plans of her own. With classic Aleatha Romig twists, turns, deceptions, and devotions, this new epic dark romance will have readers swooning one minute and screaming the next. Have you been Aleatha'd?

BETRAYAL is a full-length novel and the first of five in the INFIDELITY series.
What I Loved

This book right off the bat intrigued me.  The feeling that Alex was walking into the lion’s den when she approached her childhood home overtook me and wouldn’t leave throughout the entire story.  I love that the prologue grabbed my attention and gave off this feeling of stress that didn’t let go throughout entire book.

I really loved the lay out of the story as well, that it switched from past to present.  Setting the stage not only for Alex meeting a beautiful mysterious man but what challenges she is going to face throughout the series.

To me, Nox emanated this aura of confidence from the very first sentence that left his mouth.  At the same time you knew he had a lot of secrets and I wanted to unlock the mystery that is Nox immediately.  I love big powerful men and Nox is exactly that and so much more.
Not So Much
I really have no complaints about this story, it was intriguing from beginning to end.  Of course with all Aleatha Romig books tons of questions pop up making it hard to put the story down.  I guess my only complaint was that it seemed a little slow in the beginning and it took some time for me to get into the story emotionally.  But I get that this is series, which I’m sure will have a lot of layers to it and it all takes time to lay out a plot that complex.
To Sum It All Up!
I love deep diverse characters that only show one side of them because it makes it all the more tantalizing when they finally unleash their true characters.  I feel like there is so much more to all of the characters in this story then meets the eye and I can’t wait to see what lays ahead for each of their futures.

The chemistry between Nox and Alex took hold of me immediately and did not let go till the very end.  I wasn’t sure where the story was heading but when it all finally came together my jaw was on the floor and my heart was pounding.  If you hate cliffhangers, then get ready to immediately pick up book two in this series the minute you finish this one.  I can’t wait to see what is in store next for Alex and Nox!
