My life changed forever the night my husband died.
I was left with a shattered heart, a heap of bills, and our daughter, EVERLEIGH. I don’t want to rely on anyone, least of all CREW GENTRY. He’s my first love and the man who almost destroyed me, the man who has let me down every time I’ve needed him. But when tragedy strikes a second time, Crew just might be my only hope.
My life changed forever the night my brother died.
I was left with a guilty conscience, a pile of mistakes, and little else. I take care of JULIA GENTRY, my brother’s widow and the love of my life, and their daughter. I know she doesn’t want my help, but she gets it anyway. I owe her that.
When another disaster hits, I’m given the opportunity to make things right. I’m taking it. I'm willing to sacrifice it all.
What I loved:
Julia-Strength. Courage. Love. Undeniable determination. These are just a few words to describe Julia Gentry. Sacrifice, is exactly what Julia needs to do in order to make ends meet for her daughter Everleigh and herself after the loss of her husband, Gage. There is so much that Julia wants to give her daughter, but sometimes, life has other plans. Julia, hates that she has to, but she accepts help from her ex-turned-brother-in-law, Crew Gentry. When things happen that Julia can no longer control, Crew steps in and offers to change their lives all over again.
Crew-Fighter. Lover. Strength. Unwavering loyalty. These are just a few words to describe Crew Gentry. Crew, a former fighter who ended his career in college from an injury, will do whatever he absolutely can to help his family get the life they deserve. When, Everleigh, Crew’s niece, becomes sick, he vows to get the money to pay for her treatment, by taking a fight with the same fighter that ended his career. He loved Julia before his brother, and he knows he made a huge mistake a long time ago when he lost her to his brother, but that love never really went away. Crew works hard and will do whatever it takes to reclaim his heart, who just happens to be Julia.
What I didn’t Love:
Nothing. There was not one flipping thing I didn’t love about this book.
Overall:
Slayed. Gutted. Emotionally Exhausted. These are just some words to describe the state of my well-being after reading this book. It wasn’t because it was a bad experience…it was because it was hard to cope with how close to home this hit. It was such that I even contacted the author after I read it to speak my story, which I never do. I usually just leave it for these reviews, but I just had to.
A friend of mine has a 4yr old…she was 3 at the time, who was diagnosed with leukemia. She was diagnosed right before Christmas 2013, and went into remission May 2014! She was a true warrior. She had surgery for a port. Her team was also #TeamBelieve. There were many more similarities, but I am sure you understand my point.
Sacrifice. The perfect name for a story that was so true in its form. This was the first book I have read from author Adriana Locke, but it will not be the last. This book is so much more then a work of fiction. It’s a true testament to ever parent out there who has to fight for their kids, in whatever way they can.
AND…..There was 2 Epilogues…yup..I said 2! It was Epilogue heaven for this epilogue whore. Read this book as soon as you can. You wil get it once you do.
