What I Loved
Jude |
I must say, this story kind of snuck up on me.
Throughout most of the book I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about the main
character Bryna. Her attitude isn’t the best and she kind of annoys me. I
saw her as a bully at times, and sometimes was she came off completely
delusional. But by the end I was addicted to Bryna and instantly needed more.
This took me completely by surprise, and I absolutely loved that. I’ve
never had a story take me off guard as much as this one did.
Bryna has grown up in the world
of privilege, she’s lived a life that millions can only dream of, and her
attitude definitely reflects that of a spoiled teenage girl. She is
the byproduct of non-involved parents, with too much time and money on her
hands and a false sense of power. Although she annoyed me at times and
her immaturity shines through, I was enthralled with her story and invested in
her happiness.
The story
starts out with Bryna grasping at something real when everything else in her
life is shallow and fake. She meets a mysterious stranger which leads to
some pretty hot sex and a very secret affair. Even though Bryna got on my
nerves at times and had me just shaking my head, there was a part of me that
sympathized with her story and made her relatable. I love that the book
left me grasping for the next story in this series counting down the days till
Gold comes out.
Not So Much
I really enjoyed
Diamonds, but I do wish there was a little bit more depth in the character
development and foundation in the plot.
I did read an ARC so maybe in the final story there will be, but for me
I found it a little lacking. I would’ve
liked to have known more about Bryna and what got her to this point. She talks about her mom a lot but we don’t
ever meet her and or get a glimpse what her life was like when she was
younger. I just wish there was more
establishment of Bryna giving her more layers as well as giving the plot a better more
whole foundation.
Like I said I read
an ARC so there might be more details added in to the final copy but I do wish
there was more details. There was no
real description of Bryna’s house or what her own bedroom looked like. Certain descriptions of people would describe
their beautiful eyes but not tell you their hair color. Also, one scene Bryna
was going out, her date & her were all dressed up but it never said what
event was going on or as to why her date needed to wear a Tux. This is an ARC and all those little things
might be filled in later so I don’t really like want to hold this against the
story but it did take me out of the story emotionally as I was reading.
To Sum It All
Up!
