Synopsis
Life changes in the
span of a heartbeat—one tiny heartbeat.
Blake and Layla have lived through disappointment and regret, only finally finding relief through the powerful love they have for each other. A love they intend to fight to keep.
They’ve had to forgive each other, but can they truly move forward without facing the pain of the past?
Layla’s been avoiding the phone calls. Nine months pregnant and exhausted, she doesn’t want the complication. But she can’t run from the truth. Whoever’s calling was there eighteen years ago. Unlike her, he remembers the night that changed the course of her life, and he’s ready to confess.
Blake’s preoccupied with an email, a few simple sentences sent through cyberspace that have the capability to rob him of his sanity, his freedom, and the people he loves most in the world. When he’s called home for a mysterious reason, leaving Layla isn’t ideal, but hope for reconciliation with his father combined with his brother’s secrecy ignites a curiosity he refuses to ignore.
Putting the pain behind them is no longer an option.
To get the answers they need, they must face the past and open up old wounds that threaten to bleed them dry.

What I Loved
First of all I am so happy to dive
back into Blake and Layla’s world and get to see their happily ever after
actually happening. We pick up their
story with Layla about eight months pregnant and the new couple getting ready
to welcome their new baby. I really
loved Blake as a character already so it was so great to see how much he’s
changed versus what things haven’t changed about him. Blake is still the same old Blake when it
comes to his sense of humor and his love for fighting, but he’s no longer the
man whore he used and has finally settled down.
It was also great to see Layla and Axelle get the family and support
they’ve always wanted after everything they’ve been through.
Not So Much
I really have nothing horrible to say
about this story, it was so great to revisit Blake and Layla again and all of
the other characters because I just love this series so much. This was more of a novella then a full on
novel which is fine but that meant we didn’t get as much as the other
characters in this one as we have in the past with the other books in this
series. I do wish some story lines in
this book were delved into a little bit more especially when it came to Axelle’s
character and all things going on in her life separate from what was going on
with her family.
To Sum It All Up!
If you love this
series then you are going to love this book, Blake and Layla’s story was
definitely one of my favorite stories so I was so excited to see what was going
on with them. Even though this is a
shorter story there was still lots of drama and some very hot sex scenes. The chemistry between Blake and Layla hasn’t
lessened in the slightest and because of this you get some steamy and creative
sex scenes. There is tons going on
besides the fact that they are getting ready to bring a baby into the world,
which leads to a lot of the drama in this storyline but of course Blake and
Layla come back together like only Blake and Layla can which makes this another
amazing installment in an already awesome series!!!
