What I Loved
The
story of Audrey Bales and the “Facebook Fifteen” continues in this second
installment in horrifying ways. Audrey
is out of the hospital and immersing herself back into the real world, which as
a reader made me a little scared for her but she definitely seemed to handle
things with flying colors! I love Audrey so much and in this part she proved to
me again why that statement is so true.
Like any teenage girl there are a few setbacks once Audrey comes back,
but she still continues to move forward and take each day as it comes.
Not
only do we see the progression of Audrey since she is out, we get to see what’s
going on in the Face Fifteen lives’ as well, and boy oh boy do they have some
hard times coming for them. I don’t want
to give too much away but I will say I will never look at fireflies the same
way again.
We
also get to meet the mysterious new figure in Audrey’s life that from the
outside has securely planted himself in Audrey’s life in a positive way, but on
the inside eats rotten food and likes to harm the people who made Audrey
suffer. There is so much going on in
this story I don’t even know where to begin, but I will say I loved every minute
of it.
Not So Much
The overall plot continues really
well in this story and at times it horrified me or just plain scared the crap
out of me, which was awesome. I guess my
only complaint would be that the figures we got to see a lot of in book one are
not as prominent in book two and that made me kind of sad. We get to see Gale a little, but I would’ve
liked maybe a little bit more from her point of view, towards the end I felt
like she was forgot about more than anything.
To Sum It All Up!
Laura, you've made me very happy today. Thank you so much. Not only am I absolutely grateful for your kind words and keen observations--the thing about Gale registers with me, too--but I also appreciate the work and artistry you put into the graphics and the whole vibe of this blog.
