What I Loved
I love book that ooze sex right from the very beginning and
this story definitely satisfied that thirst by the time I got to chapter
three! I love stories that switch point
of views constantly throughout so you get a more rounded view of what’s going
on. You meet Melody Merritt at a
crossroads in her life; she’s ended a ten year engagement, and is looking for
some fun with the tall drink of water that comes with a fire hose! Josh Bradley has wanted to get Melody naked
the minute he moved to town and I can’t even tell you how wonderful it is when
he finally does strip Melody down to just her skin!
There are definitely a couple surprises in the story,
which I liked because they kept me on my toes.
There was definitely a bit of a mystery wound into this love story,
which was great along with some life changing twists sprinkled in. I love books that take place in small towns
because you don’t get just a taste of what the main character’s worlds are like;
you get to experience what life is like for the entire town.
Not So Much
There
were some details in the book that I felt like weren’t really followed up on
properly. Melody Merritt grew up in
Bluelick her family and friends live in Bluelick and she never wants to leave.
Yet we really don’t ever get to meet her sister or her parents. They’re talked about some, but never
introduced, which was weird to me because they seemed like big influences in
her life. It made the story feel
somewhat incomplete to me. Also the
ending just kind of ends, without answering a big question! At least add two more sentences to not keep
the reader wondering like that, especially since this isn’t a continuing series
with the same characters.
This Book Was…
Really good! I love
stories that take place in small towns because you get to know the supporting
characters a lot more and enjoy their lives as well. There are definitely some twists and turns in
this story which was great, it made me not get bored with just the love story
going on between Josh and Melody.
Although their romance was anything but boring, it was downright dirty
at times which I completely enjoyed.
There is nothing hotter than a man that can fling you over his shoulder
and rescue you from a burning building.
I love that Melody was the type of character that might have lacked
confidence when it came to sex, but in her overall life she knew what she wanted
and was determined to find her own happiness.
I do wish there was a little bit more drama in this story, but that’s
just because I love roller coaster books.
I read this one without reading the Private Practice (Private Pleasures,
#1) and I didn’t feel lost at all, so don’t feel like you have to read the first
one to get this one. But I will say
after reading Light Her Fire I can’t wait to jump into Private Practice and
whatever else Samanthe Beck writes.
Meet Samanthe Beck
Wine lover, sleep
fanatic, and USA Today Bestselling Author of sexy contemporary romance novels,
Samanthe Beck lives in Malibu, California, with her long-suffering but
extremely adorable husband and their elementary-aged turbo-son. Throw in a
furry ninja named Kitty and Bebe the trash talking Chihuahua and you get the
whole, chaotic picture.
When not clinging
to sanity by her fingernails or dreaming up fun, fan-your-cheeks sexy ways to
get her characters to happily-ever-afters, she searches for the perfect
cabernet to pair with Ambien.
