Lauren's Review of Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths #1) by K.A Tucker

Summary: Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie.  She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run.  Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex with some interesting neighbors.  But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D. Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

Rating: 3.5 Stars

What I Loved: Even through the tragedy that Kacey experienced, which I am sure anyone would break into a million pieces after losing both of your parents, your best friend and your boyfriend, she is one bad ass chick.  Talk about having all of your life lines ripped out of your life in a heartbeat.  First of all, I give her a lot of credit for getting out of bed every morning.  But she goes on.  She is willing to put her life aside and work at as a bartender at a strip club so her sister could go to college, she throws herself into kickboxing and hitting the punching bag.  We see that she is able to fight for herself and defend those close to her.

Cons: Predictable. Trying not to give to much away here but I figured out the plot pretty early in the book and for me, once I realized Trent's dark secrets, I started to lose interest.  Everything fell into place too easily for me and when a book is too perfect and too planned, I have trouble believing in the story.  Even the strip club enviroment was a little too picture perfect for me. Caring boss, friendly body guards...surprise birthday parties (really?) Even the HEA ending, seemed too far fetched and easy.

Trent was M.I.A for me.  He kept disappearing and coming back. I felt like he was barely in the book and I couldn't get into him. All he did was sit at the back of bar and watch Kacey.

Oh...and why were they ten TINY breaths...I didn't get that??

Hot Scenes: Boring!!! Don't read this book for hot sex. I was left disappointed with the few scenes that appear in this book.

What's Next: I rushed through this book so I could get to Convicted (Consequences #3) by Aleatha Romig
