Laura’s Review of Pulled Under (Kill Devil Hills, #3) by Sarah Darlington

Synopsis
man-child. noun.
: a grown man who is very immature, therefor considered a man-child

manwhore. noun.
: a promiscuous man who has no regard for his sexual partners or the emotional value of his relationships

Rhett Morgan couldn't have been more wrong for me. The guy drank beer in the shower, for crying out loud. He had no prospects for the future, had slept with half the women in our beach town of Kill Devil Hills, and had no desire to change his manwhore ways.

And when Ben Turner, the guy I had loved from afar for the past four years, died and I couldn't get over his death, I desperately needed a distraction. A distraction like Rhett. So I used him for a one-night stand. Because, after all, that's the only thing a guy like Rhett is good for...right?

What I Loved
I’m a big fan of the Kill Devil Hills series so there wasn’t much I didn’t love about this book.  I’ve been waiting to get to Rhett and Sydney’s story since the very first book and was not disappointed in the least when I finished it.  We meet Sydney in school hopelessly in love with popular guy, she’s a nobody amongst her peers and has always just blended into the background.  Fast forward a couple years Sydney has blossomed into a beautiful woman and wanting to spend one night the man that gave her, her first kiss.

Rhett has always been the funny one amongst his group of friends, and although we get drips and drabs of his and Sydney’s store in books 1 and 2 we finally get it all in Pulled Under.  Even though Rhett is a playboy and definitely gets around there wasn’t much I didn’t love about him.  He knows his way around a bar as much as he does a woman and there is nothing wrong with that.  I loved how hard he fell for Sydney and fought hard to break down her barriers she put up after Ben’s death.  Their story is definitely a sexy one filled with plenty of ups and plenty of downs and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Not So Much

This is going to be a short section because there wasn’t much I didn’t like about this book.  I definitely like that there were more details in this installment compared to the rest so I was pleasantly surprised in that category.  I do wish we got a little bit more Ben and Sydney interaction though.  Ben has kind of been a mystery in this series and I’m anxious to crack him open. It was apparent him and Sydney had this bond from the very beginning of this series, so it would have been nice to maybe delve just a little bit more into that, show more interactions and conversations between the two.

To Sum It All Up!
I really enjoyed Pulled Under, it’s a quick easy read about finding love when you least expect it.  Sydney was easy to love and her character immediately sucked me in and kept me there.  She totally had her heart broken by Ben and it was so great that Rhett was there to pick up the pieces.  The sexual chemistry between these two was off the charts hot and it was lots of fun reading their various and very steamy sex scenes.  Rhett is one hot bartender and I wouldn’t mind him making me a drink any day of the week!  This is such a fun series each one is hard to put down and sucks me in from the very first page.  I am praying that Ben’s story is next because I can’t wait to crack open that shell.
