What I Loved
Emily
although young and inexperienced has many characteristics that made her relatable
making it easy to become engrossed in her story. Louis immediately comes off as the perfect
man, playboy turned one woman man who falls instantly in love with Emily. There wasn’t much about Louis that wasn’t
masculine and a definitely turn on. The chemistry between him and Emily poured
from the pages making me addicted to their story.
Not So Much
The sentences for me were very fragmented at times, and it
kind of made the flow uneven and spotty. Also I felt like the synopsis gives
you the crux what this book should be about and it sucks you in, but the
majority of the book is about Louis and Emily meeting and falling in love. I get that their relationship needed to be established
and developed in order to show the severity of the changes between them, but it
dragged on too long. I wish we could’ve
fast forwarded through the beginning of their relationship and emphasize the
drama some more. There was so much
detail about the beginning of their relationship but once they were married
everything all of sudden sped up. I
would’ve liked it more if everything was in equal parts rather tons of detail
in the beginning and not really a lot towards the end.
Also
I absolutely love Louis and he is one sexy man, but he was just a little too
perfect for me. It just wasn’t realistic
for me to see a millionaire playboy meet a girl one night then commit his life
to her the next week. It was too much
too fast and not relatable at all taking me away from the story rather than
sucking me in.
To Sum It All Up!
I think Emily’s pain was
palpable at times and at a certain point my heart just broke for her. Also, I love that we not only got to know the
two main characters but their friends and family as well, it just adds to the
overall depth of the story. Another
thing I love that the characters were Jewish! This is my first book where the
characters in a romance were Jewish and as a Jew from New Jersey it was kind of
cool. I have never read a Tali Alexander
book but I would definitely recommend this one and continue to read whatever
she has to publish.
