One Promise
What
I Loved
Okay, all I got to say about this
installment in this series is FINALLY! Jett and Brooke’s story has become a labyrinth
of mysterious, secrets, lies, and just pure craziness. The craziness gets even crazier in the Lover’s
Promise and I’m not gonna lie, this book was so good and since I was sick
yesterday I read ended power reading this entire book in one day. I just need there to be some kind of peace of
mind when it came to Brooke and what she was going through and by the end of
this one, I finally got that. It’s
definitely the first time where Brooke as a character has started to grow and
change and sit back and think rationally about everything. I hate it when the female lead characters
tend to be the weaker of the two in a relationship, and when I say weaker I
mean mentally as well as physically and I can definitely say Brooke is gaining
her inner strength. We pick up the story
immediately after The Lover’s Game with Brooke in a dangerous corner, leading
her to make some irrational decisions.
It’s obvious that Brooke’s life is still in danger and watching her go
through all this mystery and heartbreak is nothing short of addicting.

Not
So Much
Since this is a
four part series, I guess I just didn’t feel like there was enough progression
with the plot. The plot got a little too
thin for me at times, and the crazier Brooke got with everything, the more she
started to annoy me. At a certain point
I just wanted to scream at her because to me, it’s pretty freaking obvious what
is happening to Jett and to Brooke.
Brooke’s imagination is definitely still running wild, and her ramblings
get a little too long winded at times and I wish could’ve been cut down. I will say I am starting to like Brooke a
little bit more again, but her constant denial of what is going on around her
is tiring and becoming too frustrating. I know that the next one in this series is the
last, so I’m definitely looking forward to closure and resolution because the repetition
of the storylines is becoming tiring.
To
Sum it All Up!
Overall this book
for a good three quarters of it was frustrating, Brooke burying her head in the
sand and ignoring her real issues was annoying.
The plot didn’t move along as quickly as I would’ve liked to be but I’m
still very much addicted to Jett and Brooke and can’t wait to see what happens
next. Even though it’s obvious what has
been happening to Brooke I still don’t know how this will end and I love that
part of the story. The real progress is
made towards the end of this story, and it was probably the most character
development for both Jett and Brooke. I
like that the point of view switched to Jett’s a couple times because it
answered questions that I had from the previous books. More questions are answered towards the end,
not all but a lot which was awesome. The
love between Jett and Brooke is still very much alive and I can’t wait for them
to have their happily ever after.
