Excerpt 1:
“I’m not worried about tomorrow. I’m worried
about right now, with you, under this Christmas tree.” Blake supported her neck
as he laid her on the floor.
Livia turned her head. “You’d better convince
me. So far you’ve talked about the dog going to the bathroom, trash, and
dirtiness.”
Blake kissed her jaw and turned her head
gently, kissing her mouth as she bit her lips together.
“Can’t I just convince you with my manly
ways?” He wiggled his eyebrows.
He could, of course, do just that—but she
shook her head. She loved the playful sparkle in his green eyes. His five
o’clock shadow just made him more handsome, framing his kissable lips with
scruff.
“Okay.” He put his fingers at the bottom of
her shirt, lifting it gently so he could circle her belly button with his index
finger. “You’re the sexiest, most beautiful woman on this planet. So sexy, in
fact, that I had to have you. I had to make you bear my children because my
universe and yours had to be combined. Everything I’ve ever been needed to be
buried inside of you, so deep, so full of love that we created life. Twice.”
He lifted her shirt and kissed the tops of her
breasts, whispering his devotion into her skin. “And it’s never enough. Unless
I can hear you coming, I can’t think of anything else. All day every day. For
years now. You’re that powerful, Livia. This. Us. It’s so intense that years
haven’t cured me. I can’t stop wanting to make love to you.”
“Wow.” Livia smiled and pulled his face back
to hers, kissing him and effectively stopping his beautiful words.
Excerpt 2:
“Come with me.” He led her to the beach again,
but during dinner a few people had been busy. It was now lined with an aisle of
candles, and a man stood close to the breaking surf, hands crossed, waiting.
Someone had used the surrounding sand as a canvas, creating a swirling pattern.
Their names were part of the art.
What? She asked without a sound.
“I want you to marry me. Here. Now.”
Beckett let go of her hand and strode away.
When he turned around, close to the water at the end of the aisle, he hoped to
hell she wasn’t running in the other direction.

What I Loved
Blake |
All the wonderful
family moments were made all the more special because it was these three
brothers experiencing them. After
reading about how much they have all suffered growing up in foster homes and
being abused it has made all the present moments with their loved one all the
more special. Debra Anastasia has a way
of not just the characters truly appreciating their accomplishments but the
readers as well. Each time Cole was with
Kyle, or Blake was playing with his children my heart would melt and I knew
just how much these small moments were a miracle to each one of the
brothers. I don’t think Beckett has ever
moved me the way he moved me in this book, and I loved him the very beginning,
but now there are no words for awesome Beckett truly is.
Livia |
Kyle |
I have always
loved the dichotomy of Beckett, because when you first meet him you fear him a
little. He’s very rough around the
edges, he’s violent, he’s brutal, and is just downright scary at times. He commands people to take him seriously, and
when he walks into a room the air instantly changes and becomes edgier. Yet at the same time, he is often the comic
relief in some scenes always having quick insults or jabs at his brothers and
friends that just make you crack up. His
star truly shines in this story and everything that Beckett is bursts through
the pages and brings home just how amazing this character truly is.
Not So Much
Since this is a
five star review for me this section of the review will be very short. I truly love this series, especially this
book. I think my only complaint would be
(since I love smut so much) that I wish the sex scenes in the book weren’t as
brushed over as they were. I get this
isn’t erotica and I’m not asking for great detail here, just maybe a little bit
more detail than there was. But that’s
just me cuz I love me some naked bodies!
To Sum it All Up!
Wow, there is so much to say about this
book. I truly don’t know if I can express how much I loved Saving Poughkeepsie
because it was such an amazing story. I
was so moved by almost every character in this book that I will truly miss them
for a very long time. It all began with
Livia and Blake and a cardboard piano and it’s just blossomed into so much more
than just love. The true definition of
brotherhood was never been bettered expressed then in Saving Poughkeepsie. It was so heartwarming to see Cole and Blake
stand by Beckett no matter what, and see Beckett embrace their love and
admiration for him. There is a ton of
stuff going on, especially towards the end where I literally was angry I had to
go to sleep and work the next day because all I wanted to do was sit at home
and read. This story kept me on the edge
of my seat for a good seventy percent of the story which I loved! There were definite surprises throughout
which absolutely floored me at times and had my heart breaking at others. It was so great to see Blake settle into
fatherhood, and Cole and Kyle finally get their prayers answered in
Maryland. I was so happy for each and
every one of them, especially Eve and Beckett.
You finally get to see what they’re like as a couple with no drama
around them (although it’s for a very short time) which was awesome. I just wanted every one of them to be happy
and when something wonderful happened to them I was so moved and happy for
them. I love books that I can get
emotionally attached to, and this series snatched up my heart and still hasn’t
let go.
The pictures in this one KILL me!! You are so wonderful, thank you so much. XOXOX
