Laura's Review of On the Record by K.A. Linde

If you have read and enjoyed Beautiful Stranger (Beautiful Bastard, #2) by Christina Lauren, Pulse (Collide, #2) by Gail McHugh, and Love Left Behind by S.H. Kolee then you will LOVE this book!

Synopsis
Brady
For political reporter Liz Dougherty, election day—a day of looking toward the future and saying goodbye to the past—seems like a fitting time to start a new relationship. But feelings for her former flame still linger...

The sexy second book in bestselling author K.A. Linde’s Record series decides whether it’s better to pick up the pieces and move on...or to pick up right where you left off.

What I Loved
Liz
Once again K.A. Linde has managed to completely suck me into the world of Brady Maxwell and his particular brand of politics.  This book picks up a few months after Off the Record leaves off, and you finally get to see what happened when Liz decided to walk away during the primaries.  I don’t want to give anything away but I will say be prepared, because you might not agree with Liz’s decisions.

When I read some books where the female lead decides to walk away from her dreams, most of the time it’s for some really silly reasons that come off contrived and just make the character look stupid.  But Liz’s arguments as to why she walked away at the end of Off the Record were really good reasons, and if I was in her shoes I probably would’ve made the same decision.

K.A. Linde makes you wait a little for some of the really hot moments in this one, but for me that is what kept me hooked, always knowing what’s around the corner.  The chemistry between Brady and Liz and undeniable, and it boils whenever they are around each other in this book.   This one definitely provides you some very hot scenes that I seriously couldn't get enough of and am panting for more!

Not So Much
Hayden
I absolutely worship the ground K.A. Linde walks on, all of her books blow me away and I just love them so much.  Saying that, I felt like the first part of the book was a little slow and I wasn’t quite sure of the direction of the plot.  I think I just got mad at Liz for a while because she was in a deep state of denial; therefore I kind of got bored.   If you are looking forward to this book to have tons of Brady and Liz time, then you are going to be a little disappointed; but only a little!

This Book Was…

Awesome!  On the Record begins a couple months after Off the Record ends, and follows Liz through her senior year of college.  You not only get to see what is going on with Liz and her love life, you get see Liz blossom as a journalist and trying to find her way into the real world.  I really enjoyed the fact that this story wasn’t all about relationships, but shows Liz’s hard work and hectic schedule and how all of that work pays off for her as she advances through college.  I think for Liz this was definitely a growing book, in book one you see Liz taking a back seat to Brady’s campaign, and really just working around his schedule constantly.  But in this one we see Liz really come into her own and grow as a woman and a journalist not just in her love life.  The power dynamic between Brady and Liz has changed in many ways, because Liz is no longer okay with being a dirty secret and won’t compromise on her feelings.  I cannot wait to see how all of this will end between them, K.A. Linde definitely knows how to end a book, because after reading that ending I NEED to read For the Record, like yesterday!
