Basic
Summary
Everyone
in Bell Harbor thinks career-minded surgeon Evelyn Rhoades needs a husband.
Everyone that is, except for Evelyn…sort of.
Even if she did want a husband (which she doesn’t…most of the time),
she’d never let something as intangible as fate determine who she marries. No, if she’s going to find someone to spend
her life with, she’ll do it scientifically: with a carefully crafted list of
criteria and an Internet dating site.
But when intoxicated, law-breaking Tyler Connelly crashes in her life by
way of a stolen Jet Ski, unruly emotions defy common sense. Sure, he’s sexy, charming, and determined to
win Evelyn’s affection, but all evidence points to him being the worst possible
choice. He’s too young for her. Too irresponsible. Too underemployed. And, oh yeah, he’s her patient. But Tyler knows firsthand how the best-laid
plans can crumble under the weight of destiny.
Now all he needs to do is teach Evelyn that, in matters of the heart,
love often supersedes logic.

Impressions
I
really enjoy Evelyn; she’s kind of stuffy but very real in a lot of ways. I like her inner monologue a lot because it
seems very human and tangible unlike some books that make their lead characters
more fantastical. Her attempts at trying
to understand normal human emotions are a little annoying though. I know people exist that are more data based
and scientific in life but Evelyn is kind of extreme with it sometimes and it
gets a little on my nerves. I really do
enjoy Bell Harbor though and I’m already wishing I lived there.
What
I Loved
I
really love Bell Harbor almost immediately I was ready to pack my bags and move
there. Plus Evelyn Rhoades is awesome;
the way she talks to the reader and to herself is hilarious and definitely had
me laughing out loud at times. I love
how Tyler always comes to her rescue too; it’s so cute especially when she’s on
her dates with the creeps she met on the internet. Of course I am head over heels in love with
Tyler Connelly and all the sexiness that surrounds him. I love he is a hero for everyone he knows not
just Evelyn, guys like that are very easy to fall in with love.
Not
So Much
First
of all I really don’t like Evelyn’s best friend Hilary, I get she has a husband
and kids but she makes no time for Evelyn at all, and makes it impossible for
her to get a word in about her own life.
She’s so stressed out about tummy tucks and her husband working all the
time, she barely notices that Evelyn has a lot of crap going on in her
life. If one of my friends was that
selfish all the time they would not be my friend anymore! At least ask “Hey how are you doing today?”
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this book it was
light and funny at times and kept things airy and happy, but at the same time
it was kind of boring. Evelyn really
doesn’t make a decision about Tyler until you are more than half way through the
book, and for a very long time there is just no real action going on. It’s just kind of a day to day of Evelyn’s
life while she sometimes has these new epiphanies about happiness and
love. I just wish there was more action
in the book to keep my attention.
This
Book Was…
Pretty good! I really
enjoyed Evelyn’s personality; she had a great sense of humor and it’s
refreshing to have a female lead in a book be as put together and stable as
Evelyn was. Usually the heroine is kind
of seen as too young to think about the future and is just starting to find her
place in the world. I like that Evelyn
is an overachiever of sorts, a brilliant doctor, and bought a house with her
own money. The relationship with her parents
was cute and definitely had me laughing a couple times.
